Representatives Claudia Tenney and Nick Langworthy of New York have raised their concerns about Governor Kathy Hochul's Migrant Relocation Assistance Program (MRAP). The program aims to relocate migrants from New York City to Upstate New York and Long Island Communities, specifically targeting Erie and Monroe Counties.

In a letter addressed to Governor Hochul, the lawmakers expressed their apprehensions regarding the potential risks posed by this initiative. They highlighted their worries by stating, “Instead of reversing these disastrous policies, your administration has chosen to export the crisis in New York City to Upstate communities, such as those in Erie County and Monroe County. Law-abiding New Yorkers should not have their safety placed in jeopardy because of radical policies allowing unvetted individuals to cross our borders at will.”

The representatives emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in the program by posing several questions to Governor Hochul. They demanded answers by March 25th regarding the number of individuals relocated to Erie County or Monroe County under MRAP, the cost to taxpayers, the vetting process for participants, safety measures for American citizens in the affected counties, and assurance that individuals comply with legal obligations.

In their concluding remarks, Tenney and Langworthy urged Governor Hochul to reconsider the immigration policies implemented by her administration and the state legislature, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the interests and security of New York residents.

The letter serves as a formal request for information and clarification from the state government, signaling the representatives' commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the Migrant Relocation Assistance Program.
