Rep. Claudia Tenney, who represents New York’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on February 9, 2026, addressing issues ranging from voter identification laws to state energy policies and cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

In a tweet posted at 17:46 UTC, Tenney cited polling data about voter identification requirements: “95% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats support national voter ID. When Democrat leaders oppose it, it’s because they want to CHEAT. One citizen. One vote. It’s not complicated.”

Later that day, at 18:48 UTC, Tenney commented on recent power outages in New York State, attributing them to policy decisions by state lawmakers: “WARNING: This power outage is not random. Albany Democrats have attacked sensible, safe, and reliable energy sources while forcing reckless electrification mandates onto an already unsustainable power grid. This is a PUBLIC SAFETY CRISIS that is predictable and preventable.”

In another post at 21:05 UTC the same day, Tenney discussed state cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), criticizing Governor Kathy Hochul’s approach: “It’s clear: cooperation works. Obstruction doesn’t. While states partnering with ICE are removing dangerous criminals, Gov. Hochul blocks cooperation and puts New Yorkers at risk. Chaos is a choice, and Hochul is choosing it.”

Claudia Tenney has served in Congress since 2021 after previously representing her region in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2016. She was born in New Hartford, New York in 1961 and currently resides in Canandaigua. Tenney holds a BA from Colgate University (1983) and a JD from the University of Cincinnati (1987).
