Rep. Claudia Tenney, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 24th district since 2021, has posted a series of statements on her social media account criticizing Democratic lawmakers over the recent government shutdown and related political developments.

On October 7, 2025, Tenney addressed the impact of the government shutdown on families in New York, writing, “New York’s working families are paying the price for Democrats’ reckless shutdown. House Republicans passed a clean bill to keep the government open, but Senate Democrats blocked it. Every day they play these games, families lose wages, benefits, and stability.”

The following day, she commented on the effects of the shutdown on federal nutrition assistance programs, stating, “President Trump stepped in to save WIC after Democrats’ shutdown left millions of women and children without support. The American people won’t forget: Democrats were willing to let babies go hungry just to score political points. Sick. Shameful. Un-American.”

Later that same day, Tenney posted about alleged corruption involving President Biden and his family, saying, “Classic Biden corruption. Democrats looked the other way for years while the Bidens cashed in abroad. This is just the beginning. President Trump will expose it all.”

Claudia Tenney has represented New York’s 24th District in Congress since 2021, following her tenure in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2016. She succeeded Anthony Brindisi in Congress and has longstanding ties to New York, having been born in New Hartford in 1961 and currently residing in Canandaigua. Tenney holds a BA from Colgate University and a JD from the University of Cincinnati.
