Rep. Claudia Tenney, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 24th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing national and international political issues, including the Nobel Committee’s recognition of U.S. presidents, the prosecution of former President Donald Trump, and the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 9, 2025, Tenney criticized former President Barack Obama and the Nobel Committee in a post: “Obama weakened America & divided the world, and the Nobel Committee rewarded him. President Trump did what Obama never could: secured peace through strength, brokered historic deals, & ended chaos abroad. It’s time the Nobel Committee got it right.”
Later that day, she commented on legal proceedings involving New York Attorney General Letitia James: “Crooked NY AG Letitia James, used taxpayer money to maliciously prosecute President Trump over non-crimes, has now been INDICTED based on legitimate bank fraud allegations.” The statement references ongoing legal controversies in New York politics.
On October 10, 2025, Tenney addressed the federal government shutdown and its impact on military personnel: “Remember: Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats could end this shutdown today. Instead, our service members will miss their Oct. 15 paycheck because Democrats refuse to act.”
Tenney has held her congressional seat since defeating Anthony Brindisi in 2021. She previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Born in New Hartford in 1961 and currently residing in Canandaigua, Tenney is an alumna of Colgate University (BA) and the University of Cincinnati (JD).
