Congresswoman Claudia Tenney from New York’s 24th district has addressed a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, urging the Department of Justice to examine what she describes as New York State’s violation of Second Amendment rights. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik from New York’s 21st district also signed this letter.
Tenney argues that recent restrictions imposed by New York contradict Supreme Court rulings in cases such as DC v. Heller, McDonald v. City of Chicago, and NYSRPA v. Bruen. These restrictions include bans on certain semi-automatic rifles, mandatory licensing and registration for firearms, and limits on magazine capacity.
In her statement, Congresswoman Tenney emphasized the importance of the Second Amendment: “The Second Amendment is not a suggestion; it is a Constitutional guarantee.” She criticized what she perceives as an attack on gun rights by Albany Democrats and called for federal intervention to protect these rights for law-abiding citizens.
She further stated her commitment to working with the Trump administration to uphold these constitutional protections.
