Congresswoman Claudia Tenney of New York’s 24th District announced the House’s approval of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The legislation, which aligns with President Trump’s America First Agenda, passed narrowly with a vote of 218-214 and now awaits the President’s signature to become law.
In her statement, Congresswoman Tenney highlighted the bill’s significance in maintaining and expanding upon the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act from 2017. “Today, House Republicans kept our promise to the American people by passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” she stated. She emphasized that it locks in Trump-era tax cuts and provides significant tax relief for lower-income seniors on Social Security, while also eliminating taxes on tips and overtime. According to Tenney, this legislation is designed to reduce taxes for working families and offer incentives for small businesses and family farms.
Tenney further noted that the bill averts what she described as “the largest tax hike in American history” and offers an average $1,300 tax cut, potentially increasing take-home pay by nearly $14,700 for families in New York.
The bill also includes measures aimed at supporting farmers and small businesses by preserving deductions and capital expensing options intended to stimulate investment and economic growth in NY-24. Additionally, it addresses border security through funding for ICE and CBP, completion of a border wall, and ending taxpayer-funded benefits such as Medicaid for undocumented immigrants.
Included within the broader legislative package are stand-alone bills championed by Tenney herself: H.R. 1103 (New Markets Tax Credit Extension Act) and H.R. 1752 (Technology for Energy Security Act). These initiatives aim to boost private investments in economically distressed areas like rural communities within NY-24 and extend credits for fuel cells and linear generators.
“The One Big Beautiful Bill restores economic freedom, strengthens our national security, and puts hardworking Americans first,” said Tenney. She hailed its passage as a “major victory” for Americans nationwide.
