Jennyrae Brongo is the driving force behind Homesteads for Hope, a nonprofit organization focused on creating a sense of belonging for families. Located in Ogden, New York, Ms. Brongo has dedicated herself to establishing a place where individuals and families, regardless of disabilities, can engage with nature through learning and working.

The organization’s 55-acre farm is situated near downtown Rochester along the Erie Canal. It serves as an educational environment offering therapeutic experiences. Over recent years, Ms. Brongo has developed various programs and events that foster community spirit.

In a TEDx talk in 2018, Ms. Brongo expressed her commitment: “I don’t know where I would be without autism. It’s like someone gave me a mission in life to be a voice for those who didn’t have one. My brother, Chucky, is a nonverbal hero. His story is paving the way.”

Homesteads for Hope was founded by Luann and Jennyrae Brongo after facing challenges in finding services for Charles “Chucky” Brongo post-graduation at age 21. Despite their efforts, they struggled to secure necessary support until inspiration struck during a visit to “Uncle Bob’s” farm nearby.

Ms. Brongo discovered numerous care farms across the country while exploring options online and began envisioning a better future for her family that evening. With Luann working alongside Chucky on the farm and Ms. Brongo handling business planning, they established New York State’s first working farm and housing community for people with disabilities.

Holding a degree in Construction Management Engineering from Alfred State College and backed by 15 years of entrepreneurial experience, Ms. Brongo realized this vision by developing Western New York’s first inclusive “Learn, Work & Live” community.

In recognition of her efforts, she was honored as a “Woman of Excellence” by the Rochester Business Journal in 2021. Her passion lies in building dreams that offer improved futures for all families.
