Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center (NFMMC) has received approval from the New York State Department of Health to begin several construction projects as part of a $53 million program aimed at upgrading its Tenth Street campus.
The first phase, which totals $6.5 million, will start immediately and will include a new Wound Center and Hyperbaric Center in partnership with Restorix, a new Vascular Center and Vascular Lab in collaboration with University at Buffalo Vascular Surgeons, new surgical office suites and minor procedure rooms, as well as private medical office suites for Dr. Fast and Dr. Jain.
NFMMC thanked Governor Kathy Hochul and Dr. James McDonald, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health, for their leadership in supporting healthcare improvements across the state. The medical center noted that these leaders have played an important role in advancing hospital infrastructure and expanding access to care.
Additional projects planned through 2026 and 2027 include building a 430-car parking garage, creating a 12-bed ICU step-down unit, renovating both the Medical/Surgical floor and the Women’s Pavilion, installing a new telemetry system for inpatient beds and the Emergency Department, adding a new emergency generator system, as well as upgrading equipment and facility infrastructure.
NFMMC is currently Niagara County’s only full-service health system. It is also the sole hospital in the county offering around-the-clock elective and emergency surgeries including general, vascular, orthopedic procedures; labor and delivery services; emergent C-sections; medical oncology in partnership with Roswell Park; cardiac catheterization with Kaleida Health and Catholic Health; as well as inpatient adult behavioral health programs.
“This ambitious program reflects NFMMC’s vision for the future of healthcare in Niagara and our dedication to providing state-of-the-art facilities for patients, families, and staff,” said Joseph A. Ruffolo, President and CEO. “We are investing in both specialized care and infrastructure to ensure our community has access to the highest quality medical services.”
Work on approved projects is set to begin right away with more phases rolling out over the next two years. The medical center plans to keep the community informed about progress on these initiatives.
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center describes itself as Niagara County’s only full-service health system committed to delivering compassionate care focused on innovation and community needs.
