Rep. Claudia Tenney, who represents New York’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform on November 4, 2025, to criticize the ongoing government shutdown and its effects on the American public.

In a post published at 14:36 UTC, Tenney stated, “This needless shutdown is seriously damaging our economy. TSA workers and air traffic controllers are unpaid, flights are delayed, & 500 travel companies are warning of chaos if Senate Democrats refuse to pass the clean CR before Thanksgiving.”

Later that day at 16:00 UTC, she posted another message highlighting broader impacts of the shutdown: “Democrat leaders have turned political theater into a full-blown crisis. As of this week, 40 million Americans have reduced food assistance, federal workers and troops are unpaid, and vital services are collapsing. Schumer and Gillibrand need to stop the games and pass a clean”. A subsequent post included only a link: “https://t.co/WHNG9tdDvt”.

Claudia Tenney has served in Congress since 2021 after previously holding office in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2016. She succeeded Anthony Brindisi in representing New York’s 24th district. Born in New Hartford in 1961 and currently residing in Canandaigua, Tenney holds degrees from Colgate University (BA) and the University of Cincinnati (JD).

Her recent statements come amid heightened partisan debate over passing a continuing resolution (CR) to fund government operations ahead of Thanksgiving.
