Rob Ortt, a New York State Senator, posted a series of updates on January 21, 2026, addressing the state budget and community engagement efforts.
In his first post on January 21, Ortt criticized the state’s proposed financial plan: “Instead of offering a fiscally responsible budget to provide relief to New Yorkers struggling with an affordability crisis, the bloated $260 billion plan is a continuation of the policies that have made New York the most unaffordable state in the nation. This budget does”.
Later that day, Ortt highlighted his office’s participation in a local event: “My office attended this morning’s Niagara Frontier Community Providers Meeting at Community Missions in Niagara Falls. Happy to support the important work these folks are doing, and hear from the nearly 40 groups that came out to discuss the services they offer to our community.” (January 21).
In another update on January 21, Ortt addressed improvements in emergency response systems: “Happy to meet with the New York State 911 Coordinators in Albany. These essential coordinators across our state have my support as we move towards Next Generation 911 and needed improvements for a faster, more resilient system.”
Ortt’s comments come amid ongoing debates about New York’s fiscal policy and its impact on affordability for residents. The state’s budget has been subject to scrutiny from lawmakers concerned about rising costs and economic pressures faced by New Yorkers.
