Cost of college went up for resident students at Niagara County Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.8 percent for 2018-19 at Niagara County Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $4,923 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $225 more than the $4,698 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 89.2 percent more than residents this year, or $9,315. Non-resident tuition and fees were reduced 15.6 percent from $11,034 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 799 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.4 million and 390 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (5,047), 2,789 students used grants or scholarships totaling $14.4 million, and 1,435 students took out $7.2 million in federal student loans.
