Oswego, New York— Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) honored 30 Vietnam Veterans from the community during a Vietnam War Commemorative Pinning Ceremony at the Historic Fort Ontario.

Tenney presented each veteran with a commemorative Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin, symbolizing the nation's appreciation for their service. The pin is part of a national effort to recognize and thank veterans who served during the Vietnam War.

"Vietnam Veterans often returned home to a divided country and were not always given the recognition they deserved,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Today’s ceremony sought to right that wrong by offering a long-overdue acknowledgment and appreciation of their sacrifice. It was a privilege to honor these veterans and finally give them the formal welcome home they earned so many years ago. Thank you to these brave veterans, their families, and all who served during the Vietnam War for your selfless service to our country. Our nation owes you an immense debt of gratitude.”

“Today's event was remarkable, and I am grateful for the privilege to be among so many of our local Vietnam-era veterans and their families. I want to thank Congresswoman Tenney for her leadership in organizing the event and allowing us the opportunity to honor these brave men who made countless sacrifices for our country and were never given the homecoming they deserved. This ceremony is just a small token of appreciation that is long overdue for our veterans,” said Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski).
