Congresswoman Claudia Tenney and Senator Marsha Blackburn have introduced the DOGE Acts, a legislative package aimed at reforming federal government spending. This initiative aligns with President-elect Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
“Under President Trump’s leadership and a Republican-controlled Congress, we are determined to cut wasteful government spending and reduce costs for hard-working Americans,” stated Congresswoman Tenney. She emphasized collaboration with Musk and Ramaswamy to address budget issues, relocate federal agencies from Washington, DC, reform bureaucracies, and ensure accountability among federal employees.
Senator Blackburn added that “the American people have had enough of outsized bureaucracy and wasteful government spending.” She highlighted the importance of requiring federal employees to return to office work, relocating agencies across America, reducing federal expenditure, and freezing hiring until efficiency is achieved.
The DOGE Acts include several pieces of legislation:
– The Federal Freeze Act proposes a one-year salary freeze for federal civilian employees while capping workforce numbers over three years. It exempts roles crucial for law enforcement, national security, public safety, and health services.
– The Commission to Relocate the Federal Bureaucracy Act aims to decentralize power by moving non-national security agencies based on financial efficiency and infrastructure.
– The Federal Employee Performance and Accountability Act introduces performance-based pay structures to improve efficiency while exempting certain critical agencies.
– Implementing DOGE Act limits increases in non-security discretionary appropriations beyond one percent unless rescinded proportionally. This measure seeks to control the deficit and national debt.
