Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, who represents New York’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, has provided an update on her office’s recent efforts to assist constituents in the Middle East and shared resources for Americans currently abroad.
Tenney’s office reported that it has helped dozens of constituents in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Kuwait. The assistance included coordinating with the U.S. State Department and arranging safe travel back to the United States. Her team works regularly with federal agencies to help constituents access timely information, connect with embassy officials, and utilize resources available to U.S. citizens overseas.
“Helping constituents navigate urgent situations overseas is an important part of the work our office does every day,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “I am grateful our team was able to assist constituents in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates and help ensure they were able to return home safely. For Americans currently abroad, the State Department offers several important resources that can provide guidance, updates, and support during emergencies. Our office will continue working closely with federal agencies to assist constituents and ensure that Americans traveling or living overseas have access to the information and help they need. We are grateful to the State Department, and our regional partners in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Kuwait for their help getting Americans home safely.”
Americans overseas are encouraged by Tenney’s office to use several resources from the U.S. government if they require assistance:
– The State Department Crisis Intake Form allows individuals to notify officials during emergencies abroad.
– The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) enables citizens abroad to register with embassies or consulates for security alerts.
– The Travel.State.gov website provides country-specific updates and safety guidance for travelers.
Claudia Tenney has represented New York’s 24th district since 2021 after replacing Anthony Brindisi in Congress. Before her current role, she served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Tenney was born in New Hartford, New York in 1961 and now resides in Canandaigua. She graduated from Colgate University with a BA in 1983 and earned a JD from the University of Cincinnati in 1987.
