Congresswoman Claudia Tenney has announced a significant investment for Central New York through the One Big Beautiful Bill. This legislation aims to support America’s semiconductor industry and advanced manufacturing sector. The bill includes an enhancement of the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit, which is intended to expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing.
Earlier this year, Congresswoman Tenney introduced the Building Advanced Semiconductors Investment Credit (BASIC) Act with more than 20 colleagues. This act aimed to extend and increase a critical tax credit, which has now been included in the new bill.
The One Big Beautiful Bill is described as a major tax and investment package designed to strengthen American industry and secure supply chains while bringing manufacturing jobs back to the United States.
“Preserving and increasing the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit in the One Big Beautiful Bill sends a clear message that the United States is committed to long-term technological leadership and competitiveness,” said Congresswoman Tenney. She emphasized its potential impact on job creation and investment in New York.
Micron’s Chairman, President, and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra expressed gratitude for Tenney’s leadership on the BASIC Act, highlighting its role in strengthening U.S. manufacturing and innovation.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon noted that reshoring advanced manufacturing industries is vital for economic and national security, acknowledging Congresswoman Tenney’s efforts in preserving key credits that could make Central New York a hub for semiconductor manufacturing.
Dr. Thomas Caulfield from GlobalFoundries praised Congresswoman Tenney’s BASIC Act as foundational for including expanded tax credits in the bill, which are essential for maintaining U.S. competitiveness globally.
Ben Sio from CenterState CEO stated that increasing these credits supports Syracuse’s growth as a leader in chip production while enhancing national defense capabilities.
Heather Mulligan from The Business Council of New York State commended Congresswoman Tenney’s efforts on legislation expected to create jobs and grow New York’s economy significantly.
