Congresswoman Claudia Tenney has introduced a bill named the Stop Funding Our Adversaries Act, aiming to halt federal spending on research in China or entities owned by China. This legislative move comes after a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) revealed that between fiscal years 2015 and 2021, U.S. agencies allocated $28.9 million directly to Chinese entities for research and development.

The proposed legislation seeks to prevent any form of U.S. taxpayer-funded research from benefiting China directly or indirectly through federally funded research, grants, or contracts.

“Our nation’s foreign adversaries do not deserve a dime of our tax dollars,” stated Congresswoman Tenney. “The Stop Funding Our Adversaries Act will end all American taxpayer-funded research in China and the Chinese Communist Party, ensuring we are not funding the technical, military or economic advancement of our adversaries.”

As a founding member of the DOGE Caucus, Tenney emphasized her commitment to accountability and transparency in government spending, underscoring the importance of tracking every cent of taxpayer money.
