Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, who represents New York’s 24th district, has released information and resources for her constituents affected by the ongoing government shutdown. She announced the creation of a Government Shutdown Resources page on her official website to provide updates, direct links, and casework assistance for residents facing disruptions in federal agency services.
Under federal law, essential programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, VA care, SNAP benefits, and mail delivery will continue to operate. However, services like passport processing and access to National Parks may be delayed. The National Flood Insurance Program has also expired due to Senate inaction, stopping the issuance of new policies and renewals.
Despite the shutdown, Congresswoman Tenney stated that her offices are fully open to assist with any issues related to these programs or other federal agencies. The newly launched resource page explains which services are continuing without interruption, which may face delays, and how constituents can request help from her office. While many departments are working with fewer staff members during the shutdown, Tenney’s team continues to submit casework and advocate for residents of NY-24.
“House Republicans passed a clean, responsible bill to keep the government open and serving the American people,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Senate Democrats chose to block it, forcing a shutdown that is hurting families, seniors, and small businesses across New York. Our offices remain open and ready to help constituents get the answers and assistance they need. This new resource page will keep residents informed until Democrats end this unnecessary shutdown.”
