Congresswoman Claudia Tenney from New York’s 24th district has reintroduced the Remembering Our Local Heroes Act. Partnering with Congressman Chris Pappas of New Hampshire’s 1st district, the bill aims to direct the Secretary of the Interior to create a grant program. This program will provide funding for memorials dedicated to veterans, law enforcement officers, and firefighters.

Congresswoman Tenney stated, “Our veterans, first responders, and law enforcement officers embody the very best of our nation, and we must honor their courage and selflessness. This includes preserving local memorials, which serve as powerful reminders of these heroes’ legacies and sacrifices. The Remembering Our Local Heroes Act ensures that communities in New York and across the country have the resources needed to maintain and restore these tributes for future generations.”

Congressman Pappas added his support by saying, “First responders, members of the military, and all those who have served our nation deserve to be honored and remembered for their service and sacrifice. This bipartisan legislation will help communities in New Hampshire and across the country build, maintain, and restore memorials honoring our heroes, ensuring that they will never be forgotten.”
