Congresswoman Claudia Tenney of New York’s 24th district has responded to a newly declassified report from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Majority Staff. The report alleges that senior intelligence officials during the Obama administration created a false narrative that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 election.
The HPSCI report claims that the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, led by then-CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James Comey, disregarded credible intelligence and relied on sources such as the Steele Dossier. According to the report, these actions were intended to support claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin favored Trump in the election. The assessment is described as rushed and politicized, aiming to legitimize what is characterized as a coordinated campaign against Trump.
“This report confirms what we’ve known for years: the Russia collusion hoax was a deliberate political operation, not a national security concern,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and their allies in the intelligence community weaponized our government to attack President Trump, silence the voices of American voters, and cover their own tracks. Their actions shattered public trust and diverted national security resources from real threats. This was an unprecedented abuse of power that demands full accountability. The American people deserve to know how deep this went, and every corrupt actor involved must be held to account.”
Claudia Tenney has represented New York’s 24th district in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Anthony Brindisi. She previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Born in New Hartford in 1961, Tenney currently resides in Canandaigua. She graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor’s degree in 1983 and earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1987.
