Washington, DC—Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) announced the success of her bill, H.R. 5179, the Anti-BDS Labeling Act, as it passed the House Ways and Means Committee Markup by a vote of 25-17.

The legislation aims to uphold the Trump administration's policy on labeling products from the West Bank and Gaza, ensuring that products are accurately marked based on their origin. Congresswoman Tenney emphasized the importance of this bill in countering the anti-Semitic BDS movement, stating, "For years, the anti-Semitic BDS movement has sought to cripple the Israeli economy and arbitrarily discriminate against goods made in Israeli-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria."

Chairman Jason Smith of the Ways and Means Committee echoed support for Israel, highlighting the significance of the legislation in reaffirming the United States' alliance with Israel. He emphasized, "America stands with Israel, especially in the aftermath of Iran's attack this weekend. Israel is not just our ally but also one of our top trading partners."

The bill's passage out of the Committee signifies a strong stance against the BDS movement and a commitment to supporting Israel's economy. Chairman Smith noted, "This legislation codified into law a Trump executive order that acknowledges Israel's territorial sovereignty and clarifies whether a product was made in Israel, Palestinian-controlled portions of the West Bank, or Gaza. Americans should have the knowledge and power to buy products that support Israel's economy."
