Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today announced that three of the ten students she nominated to attend the United States Military Service Academies in 2022 have received appointments to these prestigious institutions.

An independent panel made up of community leaders and veterans selected the ten students for initial nomination after thoroughly reviewing their academic achievement, character, and commitment to community service. The ten students were all selected for nomination in 2022 when Congresswoman Tenney represented the 22nd District of New York. As a member of the House of Representatives, Tenney can nominate a select number of outstanding students each year to attend one of the military service academies.

Of the ten students nominated in 2022, three were ultimately selected by service academics this year for appointments beginning in Summer 2023. This includes Ms. Julia Reff of Cazenovia, who received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, Mr. Mateo Ripa of New Hartford, who received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, and Mr. Josh Grabowski of Newport, who received an appointment to the United States Military Academy.

“One of the greatest privileges I have as a member of Congress is to nominate our future generation of leaders to the military service academies,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “My son, Trey, attended the U.S. Naval Academy, making this nomination process even more meaningful and important to me as a parent. I am honored to announce that of the ten outstanding individuals nominated last year, three exceptional students received appointments to a U.S. service academy. Congratulations to Julia Reff, Mateo Ripa, and Josh Grabowski on this tremendous honor and well-deserved accomplishment.”
