Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today announced the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition, which features artwork from high school students across New York’s 24th District. The winner of the competition was Kailey Forbes of Union Springs High School. Her winning piece, “Duality,” will be featured in the U.S. Capitol along with other winners from across the country.
This year, Tenney’s office received artwork from 10 schools across the district in various mediums, including photographs, digital art, watercolor, colored pencil, charcoal, and acrylic paint. A three-judge panel of local artists representing regions from across the 24th District selected the winners.
The winner of the Congressional Art Competition will be flown to Washington, DC, for the Congressional Art Competition National Reception later this year.
“Congratulations to Kailey Forbes, this year's winner of the Congressional Art Competition,” said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. “Every year, I am in awe of the talented works produced by our region’s young artists, and this year was no exception. I would also like to congratulate Angelina Broecker, Jennifer Daum, and Hayley Topping for placing in this year’s competition. I sincerely thank the judges, art teachers, and students for participating in this program. I look forward to seeing Kailey’s artwork hanging in the halls of Congress for the next year!”
