On February 12, 2025, Rep. Claudia Tenney criticized Governor Kathy Hochul's new measures concerning the Red Flag Law, stating that "Kathy Hochul is piling on additional #2A restrictions to her already overbearing Red Flag Law." She further argued that these actions violate constitutional rights, including the Second Amendment and due process.

The following day, February 13, 2025, Tenney addressed issues related to New York's Green Light Law in another tweet. She claimed that "New York's Green Light Law is blocking law enforcement from accessing DMV records & making it harder to enforce our immigration laws." She thanked Attorney General Bondi for filing a lawsuit against Mark Schroder, commissioner of New York's DMV, and mentioned her own legislative efforts with the introduction of the Red Light bill in Congress.

Later on February 13, 2025, Tenney announced plans for formal action regarding an unspecified incident by tweeting that "My office will be formally reporting this incident to @FBIBuffalo." She emphasized that those responsible should face legal consequences.
