Congresswoman Claudia Tenney has introduced the Technology for Energy Security Act, which seeks to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The proposed amendment aims to extend the energy credit for fuel cells and linear generators by an additional eight years. This extension is intended to facilitate a smoother transition towards adopting fuel cells and hydrogen technologies, while also bolstering America's position as a leader in manufacturing these emerging energy solutions.

The legislation is supported by several cosponsors, including Representatives Mike Carey from Ohio's 15th district, Jimmy Panetta from California's 19th district, and John Larson from Connecticut's 1st district.

Congresswoman Tenney stated, "In order to increase our energy independence, we must diversify our energy sources. By extending the traditional ITC for fuel cells, the section 48 credit will continue enabling the domestic market to develop and keep cutting edge fuel-cell technology and manufacturing out of Chinese hands, all while ensuring that fuel cells can provide energy-security and grid-reliability benefits across the nation. This tax credit will allow us to strengthen our domestic energy production and expand safe, clean, reliable American energy."
