Rep. Claudia Tenney, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 24th district since 2021, recently expressed her views on various issues through a series of tweets. Her posts touched upon topics such as border security, labor conditions for correctional officers, and anti-Semitic behavior at universities.
On March 7, 2025, Rep. Tenney tweeted about a significant decrease in illegal border crossings in February, noting that "illegal border crossings fell to the lowest level EVER, with only 8,326 apprehensions." She highlighted that this figure represented a 94% decrease from the previous February and a 96% reduction from the highest numbers recorded during President Biden's administration. Tenney attributed this change to having "just a new President," implying no new legislation was needed for securing the border.
Later that day, she addressed an issue concerning correctional officers (COs) in New York State by criticizing Governor Kathy Hochul's actions. In her tweet posted at 18:48 UTC, Tenney claimed that "Kathy Hochul is firing thousands of COs for voicing their concerns about safe working conditions." She urged Hochul to treat these workers with respect and labeled the situation as "hypocrisy at its finest."
In another post on March 7 at 19:48 UTC, Rep. Tenney commented on university policies regarding anti-Semitic behavior. She stated that "President Trump has set a clear precedent: Universities that fail to combat this pro-Hamas, anti-Semitic behavior will face consequences." Specifically targeting Columbia University, she called for cutting off taxpayer funding until it addresses what she described as "heinous displays of anti-Semitism."
