Congresswoman Claudia Tenney of New York has reintroduced the bipartisan Motorsports Fairness and Permanency Act, aimed at supporting local racetracks and encouraging investment in motorsports facilities. The legislation is co-sponsored by Representatives Mike Thompson, Richard Hudson, Terri Sewell, Rudy Yakym, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

The proposed act seeks to make permanent the seven-year cost recovery period for investments in motorsports entertainment complexes. This measure is intended to provide certainty within the industry, allowing these complexes to continue operations, create jobs, and offer family-friendly entertainment to local communities.

New York's 24th District is home to several racetracks such as Oswego Speedway and is near Watkins Glen International. These venues are significant employers in the region. Congresswoman Tenney stated that the act "will sustain the long-term financial health and competitiveness of motorsports facilities by making the seven-year cost recovery period permanent."

Caylee Demm, Track Manager at Oswego Speedway, emphasized the importance of this legislation for race tracks across America: "This stability not only preserves the jobs and economic impact we provide locally but also ensures we can continue delivering family-friendly entertainment for generations to come."

Dawn Burlew, President of Watkins Glen International, noted that Congresswoman Tenney's initiative addresses uncertainty in the tax code faced by motorsports facilities nationwide. She remarked that this legislation would "help ensure motorsports facilities can continue to grow our business and drive significant economic activity to local, regional and state economies."
