Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) on July 12, 2023 introduced the Countering Hate Against Israel by Federal Contractors Act to prevent the federal government from entering into contracts with entities that support the radical, anti-Semitic BDS movement targeting Israel.

Thirty-six states nationwide have enacted laws opposing boycotts against Israel, demonstrating their commitment to resisting the radical Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. It is imperative for the federal government to enact policies that align with a supermajority of states, thereby reinforcing the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel.

“The BDS movement promotes and normalizes anti-Semitism by choosing to single out the world’s only Jewish State while ignoring the human rights violations by countries like China, North Korea, and Iran,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Not a dime of American taxpayer dollars' should go to support entities that seek to delegitimize one of our strongest allies and endorse the blatantly anti-Semitic BDS movement. With over two-thirds of states adopting laws opposing the BDS movement, it is time for the federal government to do so at the federal level. If we enacted the Countering Hate Against Israel by Federal Contractors Act, we would send a powerful message that we stand firmly against anti-Semitism and efforts to delegitimize one of our greatest allies."

“BDS is the apotheosis of economic antisemitism and its goal is to destroy the world’s one and only Jewish state. This insidious movement must, can, and will be stopped. This legislation will end the BDS community’s evil and underhanded effort to use American taxpayer dollars to destroy an American ally’s economy,” said CUFI Founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“Thirty-six states across the country have implemented anti-BDS measures and a majority of Members of Congress from both parties, as well as the President of the United States, have all expressed opposition to BDS. This common sense, nonpartisan legislation is an opportunity for our leaders to take a stand and ensure American taxpayer dollars are not unwittingly being used to subsidize economic warfare against Israel,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.
