Washington, DC - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) introduced the RECOGNIZING Judea and Samaria Act, which requires all official United States documents and materials to use the term "Judea and Samaria" instead of the "West Bank." Joining her as cosponsors are Representatives Randy Weber (TX-14) and Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04).

The term "Judea and Samaria" holds significant historical importance as it dates back millennia to the ancient Kingdoms of Judah and Samaria. Congresswoman Tenney emphasized, "The Israeli people have an undeniable and indisputable historical and legal claim over Judea and Samaria, and at this critical moment in history, the United States must reaffirm this."

Regarding recent developments, it was highlighted that in November 2019, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the formal recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and Judea and Samaria. However, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reversed this position, expressing disappointment in Israel's recent expansion of settlements in the region.

Congresswoman Tenney criticized the Biden administration's decision, stating, "The misguided decision by the Biden administration to revoke the Pompeo Doctrine undermines our greatest ally in the Middle East." She further emphasized the significance of the RECOGNIZING Judea and Samaria Act in reaffirming Israel's rightful claim to its territory.
