Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today took a stand against the H.R. 2882, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, which passed the House by a vote of 286 - 134.

In her statement, Congresswoman Tenney expressed her dissatisfaction with the bill, stating, "Once again, instead of instituting a serious cut to excessive federal spending, Congress was forced to vote on a massive spending bill that perpetuates President Biden's policies that are detrimental to hardworking Americans." She highlighted that the bill failed to address key Republican priorities, including border security measures and fiscal responsibility.

Notably, the bill did not incorporate Rep. Tenney's amendments aimed at defunding specific government officials and policies. It also lacked provisions related to critical immigration policies advocated by House Republicans.

Despite some positive aspects, such as a significant increase in funding for national defense, Congresswoman Tenney remained firm in her decision, stating, "While this bill had positive aspects, including a $27 billion increase to critical national defense efforts, this legislation was not enough to protect the American people. I could not, in good faith, support legislation that did not provide relief to hardworking families in NY24."

The bill's contents, including funding allocations for various programs and organizations, raised concerns for Congresswoman Tenney. She pointed out several issues, such as funding for controversial initiatives and organizations that she deemed problematic.

While the bill included provisions that Tenney fought for, such as funding for specific programs and military pay increases, she ultimately opposed the legislation due to its overall impact on American taxpayers and families.

In a divided vote, the House passed the bill, but Congresswoman Tenney's dissenting voice underscored her commitment to fiscal responsibility and advocating for the interests of her constituents in NY-24.
