Talk About It Tuesday
Let's talk about wellness today. According to the Miriam-Webster dictionary, wellness is, "the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal". I really like the second half of this definition, "especially as an actively sought goal". We all need to be proactive, not passive about our whole health, which includes our physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, occupational, environmental, financial, and emotional health. When we work on all of these dimensions of wellness, we have a better chance of being in good mental health. A few of the dimensions that I work on regularly are physically, I exercise every week as part of my self-care. Spiritually, I talk to God every day and go to church every week. Intellectually, I am taking courses for further learning. About a year ago I made the decision that I had to work more on the social and occupational dimensions. I started a part-time job here and got involved with a weekly social club. I definitely feel much better mentally since working on these two. Let us know a few of the wellness dimensions that you work on and how it has helped you. Remember, wellness is an active process. You have to make the effort and continuously work on it. You'll be so glad you did : ) If you need help with what activities that you can do under some of the wellness dimensions please give us a call at 716-433-3780 and we'd be happy to help you.
