Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has announced the appointment of Dr. David Okolica to its surgical team. He will begin consulting with patients starting May 1.

Dr. Okolica brings with him significant experience in robotic, laparoscopic, and general surgeries. He specializes in bariatric procedures and has an impressive record of conducting over 225 robotic procedures. His previous roles include attending surgeon positions at Wellspan Surgical Specialists in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Sentara-RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

His career also includes a stint as Medical Director for Bariatric Surgery at the Hospital of Central Connecticut and attending surgeon roles at Trinity Health Corporation hospitals, Auburn Community Hospital in New York, and Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Board-certified in General Surgery and holding a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery, Dr. Okolica completed his medical degree at New York Medical College and his residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He further honed his skills with fellowships at Hershey Medical Center and Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Okolica is associated with both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He holds medical licenses in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia.

Founded in 1895, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is known for serving the Niagara community with a range of healthcare services. The hospital and its stroke program are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, and its primary care network is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The hospital offers a range of inpatient services including a cardiac/stroke unit, ICU, and a unique Adult Inpatient Psychiatry unit in Niagara County. In partnership with other health institutions, NFMMC has the only cardiac catheterization laboratory in the county.
