Congresswoman Claudia Tenney of New York's 24th district has voiced her support for two legislative measures aimed at addressing the Biden-Harris administration's immigration policies. The congresswoman highlighted her backing for H.R. 7909 and H.R. 5717, which she believes will protect New Yorkers from what she describes as a crisis facilitated by current federal policies.
H.R. 7909, known as the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, mandates the deportation of illegal aliens who commit sex offenses or domestic violence and prohibits their re-entry into the United States. This bill passed the House with a vote of 266-158.
The second measure, H.R. 5717, titled the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act, aims to prevent sanctuary states and cities from using taxpayer dollars to provide services to illegal immigrants. This bill passed the House by a narrower margin of 219-186.
New data indicates that hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants with criminal records have been released into the United States under the current administration. Specifically, it shows that 425,431 convicted criminals and 222,141 individuals with pending criminal charges were released. Among these are individuals convicted of assault (62,231), drug-related offenses (56,533), burglary (14,301), sexual assault (15,811), and homicide (13,099).
“The Biden-Harris border crisis has been driven by pro-criminal, anti-American policies from this administration, as well as radical left-wing governors and mayors,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “New York State and New York City are actively encouraging dangerous illegal aliens to enter our country and settle in our state, with Albany using federal taxpayer dollars to support them. With recent data showing that 425,431 convicted criminals have been released into our country, we must enact policies to keep New Yorkers safe and ensure dangerous illegal immigrants are immediately deported and barred from re-entry. Americans' tax dollars should not be used to fund and prolong the Biden-Harris border crisis.”
